I will go to the beach, and lie
on the sand, watching the ship drift,
drowning, gently, this ache
that no longer fits in my heart.
I will watch, as dusk stretches,
the gulls of memory take flight,
softly beginning to feel
the past I cannot erase.
I will sleep without hurry at dawn,
while blue seeps into the earth beneath me,
and even if love is never easy,
I remain tethered to this sky.
What a beautiful freedom,
to break the chains
of a heart that shatters
and seems beyond repair.
I will wait for the setting sun,
and let my soul learn hope:
not everything that bursts
becomes a bitter apple.
I will climb into the tender firmament,
to discover new horizons,
for life is not lamentation,
but a lovely journey along a path.
